Pharmacy Assistant

About the role

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to support the Seven Oaks General Hospital pharmacy team. Working under the Drug Distribution Manager and a pharmacist, you will help ensure safe and efficient handling of medicines throughout the hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Procure, store, and manage inventory of pharmaceuticals.
• Record, manufacture, compound, dispense, package, label, price, issue and distribute medications according to department policies.
• Operate automated dispensing cabinets and maintain accurate stock records.
• Support daily pharmacy operations during days, evenings and weekends as required.

Required profile

• Grade 12 completion and graduation from a recognized pharmacy assistant program.
• One year of experience as a pharmacy assistant or technician in a hospital setting (preferred).
• Pharmacy Technician Certificate or equivalent.
• Ability to pass criminal records, vulnerable sector, child and adult abuse checks.
• Physical ability to stand, lift and perform repetitive motions; willingness to travel to other sites.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinet distribution processes.
• Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and related software.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations.
• Basic information systems technology competence.
