About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is for an Elementary French as a Second Language Teacher within the Chatham‑Kent elementary schools of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board. The teacher will deliver French language instruction to elementary students, fostering both conversational and written proficiency while supporting the board’s Catholic mission.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and assess French as a Second Language lessons for elementary grades.
• Develop engaging, curriculum‑aligned instructional materials.
• Monitor student progress and provide individualized feedback.
• Collaborate with school principals and fellow staff to integrate faith‑based perspectives.
• Maintain accurate classroom records and contribute to school reporting.
• Participate in professional development and board initiatives.

Required profile

• Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Teachers, in good standing.
• French division qualifications and/or French as a Second Language, Part 1.
• Fluency in conversational and written French.
• Completion of at least one long‑term occasional teaching assignment (minimum four months) with a satisfactory evaluation.
• Commitment to Catholic values and ability to provide required faith‑based documentation.
