Pediatrician – Part-Time Available

About the role

Kootenay Lake Hospital, a community healthcare facility with 30 acute care beds serving Nelson and the surrounding area, is recruiting a pediatrician. The practice is part of a collaborative team of healthcare professionals who work together with specialists such as neonatology, cardiology and oncology, and takes part in medical rounds, case conferences and interdisciplinary meetings. The role also includes mentoring medical students, residents and other aspiring pediatricians.

The hospital offers services from emergency care to advanced treatments, including diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, surgery, maternity care and specialist visits. Part-time hours are welcomed and accommodated.

What we offer

• Estimated gross annual income of $250,000 to $400,000 under a fee-for-service structure plus MOCAP level 1; monthly physician overhead of about $3,500, split equitably among pediatricians.
• Rural Subsidiary Agreement incentives: retention premium of 11.34%, retention flat fee of $17,573, relocation funding of $9,000 within BC, $12,000 within Canada and $15,000 from outside Canada, and a recruitment incentive of $15,000.
• Rural incentive payments for RCME physicians: $600 for up to 2 years in Trail, $3,600 in the 3rd and 4th year, and $6,600 after 4 years, plus Doctors of BC CME funds.
• Position covered by the Provincial Health Officer's mandatory COVID-19 vaccination order; selected applicants must comply with its requirements.
