Payroll Associate (Contract)

About the role

PwC is hiring a Payroll Associate for a 1-year full-time contract in Toronto, filling a vacancy left open after a team member's departure. The role sits within the IFS Finance line of service and focuses on accurate and timely payroll processing, working closely with HR teams to keep employee records current and to answer payroll questions.

Key responsibilities

• Data entry for payroll processing, adjustments, deductions, family support and garnishments
• Process semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
• Generate payroll reports and analyses, and issue Records of Employment while communicating with Service Canada as required
• Prepare journal entries, analyse transactions and reconcile accounts
• Investigate payroll errors or warnings and take corrective action
• Answer payroll enquiries from employees and external organisations
• Process remittances and payments to third parties, and conduct bank recalls, traces and pay replacements
• Assist the Payroll Manager with year-end activities and special projects

Required profile

• PCP or CPM designation from the CPA, or equivalent
• Payroll experience with strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation
• Ability to handle highly confidential information and knowledge of quality assurance and audit techniques
• Security clearance is mandatory; eligibility must be checked against the Government of Canada requirements before applying

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience with the Workday payroll system is an asset
• Strong written and oral communication, customer service and cross-functional skills
• Attention to detail, accuracy and adaptability

The salary range is $47,000 - $78,400, depending on skills, experience, qualifications and location. Eligible employees may also take part in variable incentive pay programs.
