Payroll Administrator

About the role

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the full payroll cycle for the organization, reporting to the Accounting Manager. This role ensures payroll accuracy, legislative compliance, confidentiality, and exceptional service to employees across the agency.

Key responsibilities

• Process semi‑monthly full‑cycle payroll, including earnings, taxable benefits, deductions, CRA remittances, reconciliations and year‑end reporting.
• Prepare and submit Records of Employment (ROEs) in accordance with Service Canada timelines.
• Maintain accurate employee payroll and employment records, including wage changes, vacation accruals and terminations.
• Administer employee benefits, enrollments, changes, terminations, premium deductions and invoice reconciliations.
• Support employee leaves of absence by updating payroll records and ensuring accurate benefit administration.
• Administer Group RRSP and TFSA plans, handling enrollments, contributions, deductions and reconciliations.
• Maintain data in BambooHR and payroll systems, reconcile vacation balances and generate reports.
• Respond to inquiries from employees, management and government agencies regarding payroll and benefits.

Required profile

• Diploma or post‑secondary education in Payroll Administration, Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation preferred.
• Minimum three years of payroll administration experience in a multi‑employee environment.
• Experience with computerized payroll systems, preferably Microsoft Great Plains.
• Knowledge of Alberta employment standards, CRA requirements, CPP, EI and income tax legislation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
