About the role
Seabird Island is seeking a Part‑Time Food & Nutritional Wellness Worker to support the health and wellbeing of program participants during weekend operations. The role focuses on safe, nutritious, and culturally respectful food preparation and meal service in a community‑focused setting.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal kits according to established menus and dietary guidelines.
- Estimate ingredient quantities, cook, and test food for quality and palatability.
- Incorporate traditional First Nations foods into meals where possible.
- Follow documented dietary needs, allergies, and restrictions from client care plans.
- Maintain food safety standards, including temperature monitoring, storage, and sanitation.
- Complete daily kitchen logs and food safety documentation.
- Support nutrition education and culturally safe dining experiences.
Required profile
- Ability to work under the guidance of senior staff and follow established procedures.
- Commitment to cultural safety and respect for Indigenous traditions.
- Attention to detail in food preparation, safety, and documentation.
Required skills
- Food safety certification or equivalent knowledge of Food Safe Guidelines.
- Experience with meal planning and preparation in a kitchen environment.
- Familiarity with traditional First Nations foods is an asset.
