Traditional and Holistic Wellness Specialist

About the role

Seabird Island seeks a Traditional and Holistic Wellness Specialist to lead culturally‑centered wellness programming for First Nations community members. Reporting to the Director of Health and Social Development, you will integrate traditional knowledge with holistic health practices to support emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Design, evaluate, and implement wellness programs that reflect First Nations values and holistic health practices.
• Facilitate healing circles, traditional plant walks, workshops, and cultural training for staff, families, and community members.
• Develop individual wellness plans and provide trauma‑informed, person‑centered support.
• Build partnerships with external providers such as the First Nations Health Authority and Fraser Health.
• Supervise volunteers and practicum students, providing orientation and feedback.
• Maintain accurate documentation, prepare program effectiveness reports, and ensure compliance with cultural protocols.

Required profile

• Extensive knowledge of First Nations traditional wellness practices and cultural protocols.
• Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Social Work, or a related field with a focus on Indigenous health.
• At least 2 years of experience developing and managing wellness programs within First Nations communities.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities, with a collaborative approach.
• Valid class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation for community‑based work.
