Restoration and Healing Care Coordinator

About the role

Seabird Island is seeking a Restoration and Healing Care Coordinator to support Indigenous community members navigating the justice system. The role focuses on culturally informed care coordination, advocacy, and case management to promote safety, healing, and equitable access to social supports.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and advocate for clients and families through legal, court, and social service processes, attending hearings and meetings as a support person.
• Provide case management for medium to high‑risk adults and youth, maintaining confidential records and monitoring progress.
• Respond to crises, develop safety strategies, and document incidents.
• Facilitate mediation and restorative justice dialogues between clients, families, and justice partners.
• Integrate Indigenous teachings into service plans and conduct community outreach on restorative justice.
• Build partnerships with police, Crown Counsel, Legal Aid, BC Corrections, MCFD, and other agencies.
• Assist clients with practical supports such as housing, mental health, employment, and transportation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in social sciences, social work, justice studies, Indigenous studies or related field; cultural knowledge valued.
• Minimum two years of experience working within Indigenous communities in care coordination, advocacy, or justice support.
• Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict‑resolution abilities.
