Museum/Fort Whoop-Up Labourer (Seasonal)

About the role

The Galt Museum & Archives is seeking a casual, seasonal Labourer to support grounds and landscape work at Fort Whoop‑Up and museum display areas. This fixed‑term position runs from early May to early September, offering flexible hours up to 37.5 per week.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain plants, materials, and outdoor exhibit spaces, ensuring they are safe and attractive for visitors.
• Assist volunteers, community members, and city partners in creating and grooming display areas.
• Perform basic carpentry, landscaping, and general maintenance tasks.
• Support curatorial staff with the upkeep of Fort Whoop‑Up exhibits.
• Adapt to varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required profile

• High school diploma with experience in landscaping, horticulture, carpentry or general maintenance.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and a current First Aid certificate.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and submit a recent driver’s abstract.
• Commitment to professional public service and teamwork.
