Millwright – Mechanical Installation & Maintenance

About the role

The Millwright will join a busy industrial environment in Lockhartville, NS, performing installation, maintenance, and overhaul of stationary machinery. The role involves hands‑on work with heavy equipment, troubleshooting, and ensuring safe, reliable operation of plant assets.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble and install mechanical and stationary industrial equipment.
• Detect, troubleshoot, and repair irregularities, malfunctions, and defective parts.
• Commission systems, perform start‑up, testing, and shutdown operations.
• Operate machining tools to fabricate parts and program PLCs for equipment control.

Required profile

• Registered Apprenticeship certificate with Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Red Seal endorsement.
• 2–3 years of experience in industrial machinery installation, maintenance, or overhaul.
• Ability to handle heavy loads (up to 23 kg), work in noisy environments, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Own reliable transportation.

Required skills

• PLC programming and commissioning.
• Oxy‑acetylene (OAW) and flux‑core arc welding (FCAW).
• Machining tool operation and part fabrication.
• Industrial machinery assembly and alignment (laser levelling).
