Medical Monitoring Manager - Oncology

About the role
Translational Research in Oncology (TRIO) seeks an experienced physician leader to head its Medical Monitoring Unit, ensuring scientific and medical integrity across oncology clinical trials from Phase I to Phase III. This senior position combines deep oncology expertise with strong people‑management skills in a dynamic, data‑rich environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop the Medical Monitoring Unit, overseeing multiple Medical Monitors.
- Ensure consistent, high‑quality medical monitoring across oncology trials (Phase I‑III).
- Provide expert guidance on protocol interpretation, safety events, eligibility criteria and benefit‑risk assessments.
- Serve as senior medical point of contact for sponsors, investigators and internal stakeholders.
- Drive consistency, quality standards and best practices across studies and the team.
- Manage resource allocation and priorities across a complex, evolving study portfolio.
- Contribute to study and portfolio planning, aligning with budgets and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Support hiring, coaching and retention of high‑performing medical staff.
- Partner closely with Clinical Operations, Drug Safety, Medical Writing and Regulatory teams.
Required profile
- Medical Doctor (MD) required; oncology specialization strongly preferred.
- 8‑10+ years of experience in clinical research.
- Proven experience as a Medical Monitor in oncology trials (Phase I‑III).
- Strong background in safety review and medical decision‑making for active oncology studies.
- Demonstrated people‑management and team‑leadership experience.
- Experience managing multiple studies or programs simultaneously.
- Deep understanding of clinical trial design and regulatory frameworks (ICH‑GCP, FDA, EMA).
- Fluent English required; Spanish is a plus.
- CRO experience strongly preferred; pharma experience also considered.
