About the role
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba is seeking two part‑time Medical Consultants to support its Investigation Committee. Reporting to the Assistant Registrar, the role involves reviewing complaints against registrants, conducting investigations, and preparing detailed reports for committee consideration.
Key responsibilities
- Assess complaints for jurisdictional and privacy issues and identify matters requiring legal advice.
- Guide CPSM staff in gathering relevant information and documentation.
- Communicate with complainants and registrants, ensuring letters clearly outline concerns and procedural limits.
- Review medical records, interview parties, and obtain expert opinions as needed.
- Prepare comprehensive Investigator’s Reports summarising facts, analysis, and recommendations for the Investigation Committee.
- Attend Committee meetings to provide clarification and support the Assistant Registrar as required.
Required profile
- Physician with a minimum of eight years of clinical experience; surgical background is an asset.
- Eligible for full registration and licensure in Manitoba and familiar with the province’s healthcare system.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Office 365.
- Experience using digital document‑management systems.
- Basic keyboarding skills.
