Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role
Reporting to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering, the Mechanical Design Engineer will provide technical leadership across assigned projects, acting as the primary engineering liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders. The role covers the full product lifecycle of complex mechanical equipment used in highly regulated industrial environments, from concept through to commissioning and long‑term support.
Key responsibilities
- Lead design, analysis, testing, and commissioning of complex mechanical systems from concept to deployment.
- Prepare, review, and approve technical documentation such as drawings, bills of materials, specifications, development plans, test procedures, and engineering estimates.
- Develop and validate 3D models for conceptual and detailed design, including structural and stress analysis.
- Apply design‑for‑manufacture and design‑for‑assembly best practices.
- Provide technical guidance to cross‑functional teams including drafting, procurement, manufacturing, quality, testing, commissioning, and service.
- Lead technical reviews and stakeholder meetings, delivering presentations on progress and results.
- Produce and verify engineering evaluations, reports, assessments, and other project deliverables.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, risks, and resource requirements, communicating status to leadership.
- Support proposal development with scope definition, technical input, cost estimation, and presentations.
- Promote health and safety culture and ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and contractual obligations.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven ability to lead and execute mechanical design projects in an industrial setting.
- Experience coordinating cross‑functional teams and managing technical reviews.
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder interaction and presentation delivery.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for short‑term project support.
