Lead Enterprise Technology Domain Architect, GTCS

About the role

Manulife's Global Technology & Cyber Security team (GTCS) is hiring a Lead Enterprise Technology Domain Architect in Toronto. You will shape the technology direction of a critical business domain, define architectural vision and technology standards, and guide strategic investments that support scalable, secure and innovative solutions. The role works with business leaders, enterprise architects, engineering teams and technology partners, and calls for a mix of technical expertise, strategic thinking and influential leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve the target-state architecture for a business or technology domain, aligned with enterprise architecture and business objectives
• Develop multi-year technology roadmaps covering modernization, cloud adoption, operational resilience and business growth
• Set domain architecture standards, principles, patterns and governance processes, and lead architecture reviews
• Evaluate emerging technologies and drive architectural decisions on cloud platforms, application modernization, integration patterns, APIs and data architecture
• Partner with enterprise architecture teams to adopt technologies that improve scalability, agility and customer outcomes, and champion modern engineering practices
• Ensure solutions meet enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, regulatory obligations and governance frameworks, and conduct architecture quality reviews
• Identify technical debt and modernization opportunities and prioritize investments with measurable business value
• Work with senior business and technology leaders to turn strategic priorities into technology capabilities, influence investment decisions and communicate complex technology concepts to technical and executive audiences
• Mentor architects, senior developers and engineering teams, foster knowledge sharing and provide thought leadership across the architecture community

Required profile

• Experience in application, solution, domain or enterprise architecture within complex organizations
• Proven ability to define architecture strategies, target-state roadmaps and modernization plans
• Experience leading architecture governance and guiding large-scale technology initiatives
• Good understanding of security, risk, compliance and data privacy requirements
• Ability to influence senior leaders and communicate with technical and business stakeholders
• Experience in Agile and product-based delivery environments
• Preferred: experience in financial services, insurance or regulated industries, cloud transformation experience, knowledge of TOGAF, and architecture or cloud certifications

Required skills

• Cloud platforms, application modernization, integrations, APIs and distributed systems
• Enterprise technology platforms such as LeanIX, ServiceNow, GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, Lucidchart, Jira and Confluence
• Preferred: Azure, AWS or GCP, and enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF

What we offer

• Expected salary range of $113,260 to $210,340 CAD, with incentive programs available
