Laboratory Technician

About the role

The Laboratory Technician will generate high‑quality, defensible analytical data by following established Standard Operating Procedures. The role involves preparing samples, extracting target compounds, and providing general laboratory support to ensure timely results.

Key responsibilities

• Review LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work.
• Perform sample preparation, extractions and basic testing procedures according to SOPs.
• Identify non‑routine samples and seek guidance on handling procedures.
• Meet client‑specified quality and turnaround‑time requirements while respecting holding times.
• Communicate procedural non‑conformances to the supervisor and maintain accurate records.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow health & safety policies.
• Provide general lab support and update supervisor on workstation status.
• Participate in department, health & safety meetings and internal/external audits.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education or equivalent laboratory experience.
• Strong attention to detail with accurate record‑keeping.
• Effective time‑management, communication and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Positive outlook with ability to adapt to a changing environment.

Required skills

• LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) operation.
• Sample preparation and extraction techniques.
• Basic analytical testing procedures.
• Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
