Junior Accountant

About the role

Rates.ca Group Ltd. is seeking a detail‑oriented Junior Accountant to join its finance team in Toronto. This hybrid position offers the chance to develop a solid accounting foundation within an IFRS reporting environment while working collaboratively with colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices end‑to‑end, ensuring accurate coding, documentation and compliance with internal controls.
• Prepare and execute payments (EFTs, wires) according to company policies.
• Assist with vendor inquiries and coordinate with internal teams on invoice matters.
• Support journal entry preparation (accruals, prepaids, adjustments) for period‑end close.
• Contribute to audit support, reconciliations and schedule preparation.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Help maintain strong financial controls and suggest process improvements.
• Participate in finance projects and cross‑functional initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience, including co‑op or internship work.
• Strong attention to detail and high accuracy.
• Effective communication and collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with NetSuite, SAP Concur or similar financial systems (preferred).
