Journeyman Electrician – Residential Solar Installations

About the role

Oceanvolt Solar & EV is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to lead a crew of apprentices in the installation of residential solar power systems on Vancouver Island. The role is hands‑on, safety‑focused, and requires a commitment to high‑quality craftsmanship and customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Install, wire, commission, and test residential solar PV and electrical systems in rooftops, attics, crawl spaces, garages, and exterior locations.
• Lead apprentices on‑site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to code.
• Maintain and organize a work van, tools, and materials, keeping them job‑ready at all times.
• Perform quality control, resolve on‑site challenges, and communicate progress to the Project Manager.
• Track materials, submit daily paperwork and timesheets using mobile software.

Required profile

• Fluent English communication.
• Red Seal Electrician certification.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• Comfortable working at heights, on pitched roofs, and in varying weather conditions.
• Experience in residential electrical work.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and locations, Monday to Friday, outdoors in all weather.
