Human Resources Director

About the role

Power to Change, a non-profit Christian movement with nine ministries and a humanitarian partner, is hiring a Human Resources Director in Abbotsford, BC. The Director reports to the Executive Director of People + Culture, sits on the People + Culture Leadership Team and leads the HR and Payroll teams, ensuring they act as a strategic partner to the ministries.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the HR staff, develop them holistically, foster teamwork, manage resources and cross-training, and oversee the Payroll and Benefits staff and administration
• Engage internal and external HR experts (HR lawyer, compensation specialists, CCCC) and update salary structures annually against non-profit market trends
• Review and update HR policies and procedures annually, run an annual HR and Payroll budget, and ensure compliance with federal and provincial laws
• Train leaders and staff on bullying and harassment, workplace safety, investigations and other topics, and keep the Knowledge Library current

Required profile

• CHRP designation or equivalent, or a bachelor's degree in HR management or a related field
• Senior leadership experience in HR
• Knowledge of HR functions such as compensation, job evaluation, recruitment, labour relations, occupational health and safety, wellness and talent management
• Commitment to reconciliation, equity, diversity and inclusion
• Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking and ability to triage and multitask large projects
• Familiarity with adult learning principles, respect for confidentiality and willingness to work with people at all levels
