Housekeeping Director

About the role

The Housekeeping Director will lead the housekeeping department of a 200‑400 room urban hotel, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety and guest satisfaction. Reporting to senior management, you will oversee a team of more than 20 staff members and manage all operational aspects of the department.

Key responsibilities

• Select and purchase equipment and supplies.
• Coordinate inspection of assigned areas.
• Supervise housekeeping staff and contract services.
• Ensure safety standards and departmental policies are met.
• Prepare budgets and payrolls.
• Conduct performance evaluations and appraisals.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment and uniforms.
• Schedule and assign duties of housekeeping staff.
• Ensure compliance with local health and sanitation regulations.
• Conduct infection control audits.
• Hire and dismiss staff.
• Respond to guest complaints.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of housekeeping management experience in a hotel of 200‑400 rooms.
• Strong client focus and dependability.
• Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Good judgment, initiative, and an organized approach.
• Team player with flexibility and reliability.

Required skills

• WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certification.
