Housekeeping and Laundry Aide – Seniors Living

About the role

S&R Seniors Living is looking for a Housekeeping and Laundry Aide for its Seniors Living facility in Sarnia. The role goes beyond cleaning: it creates a welcoming, safe environment where residents feel comfortable and cared for, supporting their dignity and quality of life. The position is part-time.

Key responsibilities

• Perform light cleaning in residents' households, including dusting furniture, mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning wash basins, mirrors, showers and tubs, and safely disposing of resident room garbage
• Clean public and high-traffic areas by mopping and vacuuming, dusting, washing windows and emptying trash containers
• Complete cleaning of designated areas according to established procedures, daily routines and hygiene requirements for morning and evening shifts
• Operate housekeeping and laundry equipment safely and effectively
• Provide courteous, respectful service to residents at all times
• Follow WHMIS legislation and safe handling procedures for chemicals, and cooperate with other departments
• Follow the Housekeeping Manager's directions and support the team as needed

Required profile

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in housekeeping and laundry (healthcare or hospitality setting is an asset)
• Preferred: experience in Seniors Living or retirement
• Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) check completed within the past 6 months

Required skills

• Ability to operate commercial laundry and cleaning equipment such as washers, dryers, auto-scrubbers and vacuums
• Knowledge of WHMIS and safe chemical handling
