Life Enrichment Worker – Long Term Care

About the role

S&R Group, which has built communities for over 60 years, is hiring a part-time Life Enrichment Worker for its long-term care facility in Kitchener. The Life Enrichment teams plan, coordinate and deliver programming across five domains of care (physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual). The role involves running programs, supporting residents and working flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead and assist with group programs, one-to-one activities and special events
• Assess residents' recreation, leisure, therapeutic and restorative care needs and develop individualized care plans
• Support residents in getting to and from programs
• Complete documentation, care plans and MDS coding accurately and on time
• Continue therapy programs as directed by therapists to promote mobility and independence
• Maintain a welcoming environment through seasonal decorating and program supplies and equipment
• Guide and support volunteers and students in life enrichment activities
• Take part in team meetings, care conferences and quality improvement initiatives
• Work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends

Required profile

• Post-secondary diploma, degree or certificate in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology or Gerontology
• Experience in Life Enrichment in long-term care preferred
• Restorative Care training considered an asset
• First Aid (every 3 years) and CPR (annually)
• Food Handler's certification (every 5 years)
• Vulnerable Sector Screening completed within the past 6 months
• TB 2 Step updated within the last year

Required skills

• Computer skills: email, Word, care planning and graphics
• Working knowledge of PCC and Activity
