Hospitalist – Acute Inpatient Medicine

About the role

The Hospitalist will join Cariboo Memorial Hospital’s acute inpatient medicine team, providing comprehensive care as the most responsible physician for complex medical patients and co‑managing surgical cases. The position offers a supportive environment with collaboration from specialists and family physicians, and the flexibility to work full‑time, part‑time, or locum.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the most responsible physician for 12‑16 inpatients per 8‑hour shift.
• Provide acute medical management, co‑manage surgical patients, and deliver palliative care.
• Collaborate closely with hospital specialists and family physicians.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary rounds.
• Maintain documentation and adhere to hospital protocols.

Required profile

• Medical degree with eligibility for licensure in British Columbia.
• Passionate about teamwork, quality improvement, and community‑focused care.
• Open to new graduates or experienced hospitalists.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including part‑time or locum arrangements.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in acute inpatient medicine.
