Graduate Teaching Assistant – BMLSc Program

About the role

The BMLSc Graduate Teaching Assistant will support the coordination and administration of one to two courses each term within the BMLSc program and the Department of Pathology. This role is designed for a full‑time graduate student interested in gaining teaching experience in health sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Guide student groups through critical appraisal activities, discussions, and presentations.
• Assist faculty with planning, designing, and setting up learning resources and in‑class activities.
• Teach tutorials or lectures under faculty supervision.
• Provide academic assistance during office hours and maintain regular communication with students.
• Attend lectures, track student participation, and report to course instructors.
• Mark tests, assignments, and reports using provided rubrics.
• Contribute to additional program duties as needed.

Required profile

• Registered full‑time graduate student in a health sciences or medicine‑related program.
• Education or work experience in health sciences.
• Strong critical appraisal, academic writing, verbal communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively.
• Priority given to students in the Department of Pathology or Faculty of Medicine.
• Experience analyzing health or biological data sets is a plus.
• Only one GTA position may be held at a time.
