GL Accountant – Contract (Toronto)

About the role

We are seeking a GL Accountant to join our finance team on a 12‑month contract in Toronto. You will be responsible for maintaining an accurate general ledger, preparing financial statements, and supporting month‑end close activities for a leading commercial real‑estate services provider.

Key responsibilities

• Answer accounting queries and produce various financial reports.
• Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and other statutory statements.
• Review journal entries for accuracy and proper classification.
• Analyze variances, recommend treatments for reserves, assets, and expenditures.
• Maintain and reconcile billings and accounts receivable for small to medium‑sized clients.
• Create month‑end entries, resolve discrepancies, and post to the general ledger.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and verify subsystem transaction data.
• Examine financial documents for compliance with accounting standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Up to 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong organizational skills and inquisitive mindset.
• Intermediate math ability for financial calculations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
