General Laboratory Technician – Wet Lab (Graveyard Shift)

About the role

Bureau Veritas Canada is seeking a dedicated General Laboratory Technician to work in the Wet Laboratory on a graveyard shift. You will be responsible for processing incoming mineral samples, performing a range of analytical tests, and ensuring high‑quality results while adhering to strict safety protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Fast and accurate processing of incoming samples in priority order, including weighing and preparation.
• Conduct routine and non‑routine analyses such as LOI (Loss on Ignition) using high‑temperature muffle furnaces.
• Perform lithium borate fusion using gas or electric fusion machines and digest samples according to written procedures.
• Handle hazardous acids safely, maintain equipment calibration records, and document quality checks at each stage.
• Provide technical support to senior technicians, assist in training new staff, and report operational issues to supervisors.

Required profile

• College or technical diploma with relevant laboratory experience.
• Excellent English communication (verbal and written).
• Strong attention to detail, workplace safety, and ability to follow written procedures independently.
