General Duty Nurse – Thoracic/Vascular Surgery (N2)

About the role
The Health Sciences Centre is seeking a Registered Nurse (N2) to join the GA3 Thoracic/Vascular/PCU‑S unit. Working under the general supervision of the Manager, Health Services, you will provide professional nursing care to patients with complex and unpredictable health needs in a surgical environment.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver independent nursing services, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
- Administer prescribed medical treatments and medications safely and accurately.
- Lead and collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with provincial standards and unit policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold the vision, values and goals of the facility.
Required profile
- Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program.
- Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) and current CPR certification.
- Successful completion of an ECG Monitoring & Rhythm Analysis course within 12 months of hire.
- Successful completion of a Progressive Care Unit course within 18 months of hire (or sooner at manager’s discretion).
- Surgical experience preferred.
- Active participation in professional nursing associations is an asset.
- Preference for candidates competent in an Indigenous language or knowledgeable about Indigenous customs.
