General Duty Nurse – Pediatric ICU (Child Health)

About the role

The General Duty Nurse (N2) will provide professional registered nursing services in the JL3 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, caring for children with complex and unpredictable health needs. This position reports to the Manager, Health Services and works on a 0.60 FTE schedule with day, night and weekend shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver independent nursing care and administer prescribed medical treatments to pediatric ICU patients.
• Lead and coordinate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, patient‑centered care and effective discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold the organization’s vision and values.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program.
• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
• Minimum two years recent acute nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics.
• Successful completion of a post‑basic ICU course is preferred.
• CPR certification at the Health Care Provider level.
• Active involvement in professional nursing associations is an asset.
