General Duty Nurse – Neurosurgery (Ambulatory Care)

About the role
This full‑time, fixed‑term position supports the Ambulatory Care Surgery unit at the Health Sciences Centre while covering a maternity leave. The General Duty Nurse (N2) will deliver professional nursing care to patients with complex neurosurgical needs in an outpatient setting.
Key responsibilities
- Provide independent registered nursing services, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Administer prescribed medical treatments and medications safely and accurately.
- Lead and coordinate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure seamless patient flow and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the Accuro electronic medical record system.
- Respond to emergencies and perform CPR in accordance with employer policy.
Required profile
- Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program and active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
- Minimum two years recent experience in medicine/surgery, with preference for neurosurgery experience.
- At least six months ambulatory care experience within the past two years.
- Clean employment record and ability to work day shifts on‑site.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the Accuro electronic medical record system.
- Current CPR certification.
