General Duty Nurse (N2) – NICU

About the role

The General Duty Nurse (N2) works in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Health Sciences Centre, providing professional registered nursing care to newborns with complex and unpredictable health needs. Reporting to the Manager of Health Services, the RN delivers independent nursing services, administers prescribed treatments, and helps coordinate patient care and discharge.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to NICU patients, including assessment, monitoring, and intervention.
• Administer medications and medical treatments in accordance with physician orders.
• Lead and collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Document patient information accurately and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in patient discharge planning and education.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program.
• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
• Recent related experience (up to 2 years preferred).
• Active participation in professional nursing associations is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.

Required skills

• CPR training at the Health Care Provider level.
