Food Service Counter Attendant

About the role

We are looking for a Food Service Counter Attendant to join our team at Pumpernickel's in Toronto. The role involves preparing, packaging, and serving food while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Key responsibilities

• Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand.
• Package take‑out food, portion and wrap foods.
• Prepare, heat and finish simple food items.
• Serve customers at counters or buffet tables and take orders.
• Stock refrigerators, salad bars and receive/unpack supplies.
• Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs.
• Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit.
• Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors.
• Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment.
• Handle and store cleaning products safely and remove kitchen garbage and trash.

Required profile

• Client focus, positive attitude and strong attention to detail.
• Reliability, dependability and ability to work as a team player.
• Capability to work in a fast‑paced environment, stand for extended periods and handle pressure.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lb (13.5 kg) regularly and up to 50 lb (23 kg) occasionally.

Required skills

• Safe Food Handling certification.
• Operation of electronic cash registers.
• Use of food dispensers and other kitchen equipment.
