Finance Manager - Part-Time Remote

About the role

Awana Canada is looking for a part-time, Canadian-based remote Finance Manager to join its leadership team and help financially steward the national ministry. The role works closely with the Executive Leadership Team and the Executive Director, supports strategic planning, and reports to the Executive Director, Board and leadership team. It is a flexible schedule position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all financial reporting, including monthly reporting, variance analysis and oversight of the chart of accounts
• Handle month-end entries (deferred revenue, pre-payments, capital assets, admin fees, fund transfers) and reconcile accounts as needed
• Prepare the Executive Director report with key performance indicators, and run operations reports such as sales, cost of sales and shipping analysis
• Support donor engagement and prepare quarterly forecast projections and the annual budget
• Ensure compliance with federal and provincial reporting deadlines, including HST filing, T3010, BC and Quebec registrations, NFP corporation returns and donation tax receipting
• Oversee payroll and clergy filings, supervise and support the Finance Coordinator, and take part in year-end and audit preparation
• Review accounts monthly in line with GAAP principles and act as a member of the Executive Leadership Team

Required profile

• Accounting designation (CPA or CMA)
• 10+ years of accounting experience
• Familiarity with a church, mission-based or para-church organization, or experience in the charitable sector, is an asset
• Understanding of CCCC and CRA regulations and reporting requirements
• Knowledge of payroll accounting; ADP is an asset

Required skills

• Advanced computer skills with good knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel and other accounting software
• Internal reporting, budgeting and forecasting
