Finance Manager – Financial Operations (15‑Month Contract)

About the role

Our client, a leading healthcare and research organization in Toronto, is seeking a Finance Manager to lead its Financial Operations team on a 15‑month contract. The role combines people leadership with hands‑on oversight of high‑volume finance processes in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and manage a team of Finance Analysts, handling performance and day‑to‑day operations.
• Oversee expense claims, invoice processing, reimbursements and other high‑volume financial transactions, ensuring policy compliance.
• Support financial reporting and collaborate with senior finance leaders on operational initiatives and process improvements.
• Identify and implement workflow efficiencies, strengthen internal controls, and drive continuous improvement across the finance function.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, providing guidance on financial policies and best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of progressive finance leadership experience, including direct people management.
• Professional designation such as CPA, CA, CPA Canada or ACCA.
• Proven track record leading operational finance teams in high‑volume environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management abilities.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency with SAP (highly preferred).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with financial systems and reporting tools.
