Finance Administrator – Clinical Trials

About the role

The Finance Administrator – Clinical Trials will manage the financial operations of the HLI Clinical Core, supporting research scientists, faculty, trainees and staff across Providence Research, the University of British Columbia and affiliated health‑care institutions. This six‑month, fixed‑term position replaces a leave and ensures accurate handling of grants, contracts and clinical‑trial related expenditures.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee project grants, research accounts and contracts, monitoring all expenditures and transferring funds as needed.
• Prepare, submit and reconcile invoices to sponsors and CROs, resolving payment discrepancies.
• Develop and monitor budgets, provide financial reports and ledger reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies, granting‑agency requirements and Revenue Canada regulations.
• Track patient‑visit accruals and reconcile payments against enrolled participants.
• Assist investigators and staff with orientation and training on grant and contract financial administration.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently within established guidelines while collaborating with Principal Investigators, research teams and finance staff.
• Strong understanding of research‑fund financial management and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in managing deficits and implementing mitigation strategies.
