Field Service Technician (Underground) – Heavy Duty Mechanic

About the role

Sandvik Mining is looking for a licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic to join its Field Service team in Nunavut. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining underground mining equipment, as well as commissioning new machines at customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect equipment, diagnose faults, and determine necessary repairs.
• Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts, components, or systems according to work orders.
• Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation.
• Commission new equipment and provide on‑site training to customers.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and complete accurate technical documentation.
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies, conduct risk assessments, and report unsafe conditions.

Required profile

• Relevant trade certification (Red Seal certification is an asset).
• At least three years of experience working with mining equipment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in heavy‑duty machinery.
• Ability to work independently in remote, underground environments.
