About the role
Sandvik Mining is looking for a licensed Field Service Heavy Duty Mechanic to provide on‑site support for surface drilling equipment across two locations in British Columbia. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical systems, as well as commissioning new machinery for our mining customers.
Key responsibilities
- Inspect surface mining equipment, diagnose faults and malfunctions.
- Adjust, repair or replace defective parts, components or systems according to work orders.
- Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation.
- Commission new equipment and provide training at customer sites.
- Complete accurate time records, technical and failure reports, and parts lists.
- Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and stay current with product developments.
- Follow all health, safety and environmental policies, perform risk assessments and maintain a clean work area.
Required profile
- Valid trade certification (Red Seal certification is an asset).
- At least three years of experience servicing mining equipment.
- Licensed as a Field Service Heavy Duty Mechanic.
- Ability to work independently on‑site and travel between locations.
Required skills
- Mechanical troubleshooting of heavy‑duty mining equipment.
- Electrical troubleshooting of surface drilling systems.
- Commissioning and testing of new mining machinery.
- Proficient use of hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
