About the role
The Field Operation Assistant provides hands‑on support for daily farm and horticulture activities at the Macdonald Campus Farm. This part‑time position involves a variety of outdoor tasks that keep the research plots and market operations running smoothly.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare soil, pick rocks, seed, transplant and prune plants.
- Operate basic farm equipment, including a tractor, for tilling and field work.
- Harvest fruits and vegetables and assist customers at the Mac Market counter.
- Collect data from research plots and record observations.
- Perform general maintenance such as hoeing, weeding, and site clean‑up.
- Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Chief Horticulture Technician.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of English (verbal and written) at level #2.
- Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
- No prior experience required; on‑the‑job training will be provided.

What we offer
- Hourly wage of $18.00 (CAD) on a fixed‑term contract.
- 35 hours per week, part‑time schedule from August to November 2026.
