Field Operation Assistant – Farm & Horticulture Support

About the role

The Field Operation Assistant provides hands‑on support for daily farm and horticulture activities at the Macdonald Campus Farm. This part‑time position involves a variety of outdoor tasks that keep the research plots and market operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare soil, pick rocks, seed, transplant and prune plants.
• Operate basic farm equipment, including a tractor, for tilling and field work.
• Harvest fruits and vegetables and assist customers at the Mac Market counter.
• Collect data from research plots and record observations.
• Perform general maintenance such as hoeing, weeding, and site clean‑up.
• Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Chief Horticulture Technician.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge of English (verbal and written) at level #2.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
• No prior experience required; on‑the‑job training will be provided.
