About the role
The Field Operations Assistant supports daily farm activities at the Macdonald Campus Farm/Horticulture Centre. This part-time position runs from 16 September 2026 to 14 November 2026, offering 15 hours per week at a rate of $18.00 per hour. The role contributes to the university’s horticultural research and market operations.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare land and perform rock picking.
- Seed, transplant and prune crops.
- Hoe and operate a tractor for field work.
- Harvest fruits and vegetables.
- Sell produce at the Mac Market counter.
- Collect data from research plots.
- Carry out additional duties assigned by the Chief Horticulture Technician.
Required profile
- High School Diploma (minimum).
- No prior related experience required.
- Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
- English communication proficiency assessed at level 2 (scale 0‑4).
- Driver’s licence and previous horticulture experience are assets.
