Family Law Associate Lawyer (5+ years experience)

About the role

Getz Collins & Associates LLP is seeking a dynamic Family Law Associate to join its growing practice in Alberta. This role offers the chance to manage a full spectrum of family law matters while playing a key part in expanding the firm’s Family Law group.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complex family law files from initiation through trial, mediation, or settlement.
• Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, Family Focused Protocol proceedings, chambers applications, trials, and appeals.
• Draft pleadings, affidavits, agreements, briefs, and other legal submissions.
• Provide strategic advice on parenting, decision‑making responsibility, child and spousal support, property division, and divorce.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service.
• Participate in business development, networking, and community engagement activities.
• Mentor junior lawyers and support staff, fostering a collaborative environment.

Required profile

• Minimum five‑year call and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
• Significant experience practising family law in Alberta.
• Deep knowledge of Alberta family law legislation, court procedures, and litigation practice.
• Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and drafting abilities.
• Proven ability to independently manage a busy practice.
• Strong interpersonal and client‑relationship skills.
• Growth‑oriented mindset with a genuine interest in expanding the firm’s Family Law practice.
