Senior Internet Policy Analyst

About the role

Join CIRA’s policy and advocacy team to develop and promote policy positions that foster a trusted internet for Canadians. You will engage with government officials and stakeholders to advance CIRA’s domestic and global internet policy agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Track and analyze regulatory, legislative and policy issues in Canada and internationally for relevance to CIRA.
• Conduct policy research and jurisdictional scans to inform CIRA’s positioning on technology policy.
• Identify emerging policy issues, assess impact, and recommend actions or engagement.
• Prepare briefing materials, key messages and presentations for CIRA’s engagements.
• Engage with policymakers and stakeholders on cybersecurity and internet infrastructure matters.
• Bridge technical collaborators and non‑technical stakeholders inside and outside CIRA.
• Support thought‑leadership activities such as reports, conferences and op‑eds.
• Develop evidence‑based policy recommendations and advise CIRA leaders.

Required profile

• 5‑8+ years of experience in government, think tanks, advocacy, technology companies or industry associations.
• Experience working with government and/or international internet policy stakeholders.
• Familiarity with emerging domestic and global internet and technology policy issues.
• Strong judgment, policy instincts and ability to distinguish signal from noise.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize and move work forward with limited direction.
• Comfort engaging with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
• Excellent writing and communication skills, capable of synthesizing complex issues.
• Eligibility to register as a lobbyist under the Lobbying Act; French fluency is an asset.
