Family and Estates Lawyer

About the role

Toronto Advocates is seeking a qualified Family and Estates Lawyer to join its legal team in North York. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal services to clients dealing with family matters and estate planning, working in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Plead clients' cases before courts, tribunals and boards.
• Draft legal documents and prepare statements of legal opinion.
• Negotiate settlements of civil disputes.
• Offer mediation, conciliation and arbitration services.
• Research legal precedents and gather evidence.

Required profile

• 3 to less than 5 years of relevant legal experience.
• Membership in the Canadian Bar Association and a provincial law society.
• Eligible for professional liability insurance and able to pass a criminal record check.
• Ability to manage a large caseload with attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Access, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Windows, MS Word, MS Project.
• Experience using Sage Accounting Software.
• Pega certified professional.
