About the role
Sandvik Mining is looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to serve as a key EHS resource for its Winnipeg operations and Sales Area Canada. The role involves consulting on and driving processes that strengthen compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement across workshops, warehouses, and remote services.
Key responsibilities
- Support and lead studies, audits, and ICAM investigations to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety laws and standards.
- Communicate and maintain the EHS management system and related processes for Winnipeg operations and Sales Area Canada.
- Promote safety‑conscious work practices and develop/ deliver training programs.
- Monitor EHS legislation, update Sandvik databases, and inform the workforce of relevant changes.
- Participate in internal and external ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits.
- Conduct job hazard analyses and other risk assessments in high‑risk situations.
- Provide hands‑on EHS support to workshops, warehouses, remote services, and the Winnipeg assembly line.
Required profile
- Post‑secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
- 2‑5 years of relevant EHS experience; mining, construction, or oil & gas experience is an asset.
- Experience with EHS management systems and incident investigations using ICAM or similar methodology.
- Knowledge of job hazard analysis, risk‑assessment methods, and applicable EHS legislation.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
- Ability to develop and implement policies and training programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Eligibility to work in Canada and a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
