Engineer – Building Envelope Systems (Glazing)

About the role

Flynn is seeking a qualified Engineer to join its Building Envelope Systems team, focusing on glazing and curtain‑wall projects. The role involves performing structural analyses, preparing calculations, and ensuring compliance with Canadian building codes on large‑scale international projects.

Key responsibilities

• Execute engineering assignments related to curtain‑wall and glazing systems, using standard formulas and tables.
• Conduct wind‑load analysis, strength and stiffness evaluations, and anchor system assessments.
• Review shop drawings for structural compliance and provide feedback to drafting teams.
• Prepare calculation packages for professional engineer stamping, including wind‑load studies and component analyses.
• Develop automated worksheets for routine calculations and perform site visits to verify structural performance.
• Supervise or coordinate technical support personnel as needed.

Required profile

• University degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of the National Building Code of Canada and relevant industry standards (NBCC, OBC, AAMA, CSA A440, CSA S157).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of structural analysis software, specifically SAP 2000.
