Emergency Medicine Physician – Williams Lake, BC

About the role

Join the collegial emergency medicine team at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, BC. You will work in a 24/7 emergency department that sees roughly 22,000 visits per year, providing acute care to a diverse community.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide variety of emergency presentations.
• Perform procedural interventions and collaborate with internal medicine, obstetrics, surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry specialists.
• Teach and mentor medical students and residents through the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s rural teaching program.
• Participate in leadership development opportunities such as Interior Health’s NAVIG8 program.
• Contribute to the upcoming CMH redevelopment, including the expanded emergency department.

Required profile

• Current certification in CCFP, CCFP (EM), or FRCPC in Emergency Medicine.
• Eligibility to practice medicine in Canada.
• Willingness to work in a community hospital setting and engage in teaching.
• Commitment to providing high‑quality, patient‑centered care.

Required skills

• Clinical competence in emergency medicine.
• Ability to perform emergency procedures and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Effective communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff.
