Emergency Medicine Physician – Kamloops

About the role

We are seeking emergency medicine physicians to join a dynamic 32‑person team at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, British Columbia. The position offers both full‑time and part‑time options, with a schedule that balances clinical duties and ample time for the outdoor lifestyle the region provides.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emergency department care to a high‑volume centre (≈75,000 visits per year).
• Participate in the High Acuity Response Team (HART) and Trauma Team Leader program, covering 14 shifts per month.
• Teach and supervise medical students and residents during core rotations and electives.
• Engage in departmental quality improvement activities, including monthly journal clubs and trauma rounds.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists across cardiology, neurology, surgery and other services.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine.
• Willingness to work in a tertiary care teaching hospital serving a catchment of ~250,000.
• Commitment to collegial, collaborative practice and ongoing education.
• Flexibility to cover both emergency and trauma shifts.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and management of acute medical and traumatic conditions.
• Procedural competence in emergency and trauma care.
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and learners.
