Emergency Medicine Physician – Fraser Canyon Hospital

About the role

The Fraser Canyon Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a full‑time and/or part‑time physician (CCFP with or without additional EM training) to join our 16‑bed community hospital in Hope, BC. This unique rural position offers the chance to provide 24/7 emergency stabilization and triage for a geographically isolated region with high traveller traffic.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver continuous emergency care, triage and stabilization for patients arriving via major highways.
• Manage inpatient hospice beds and coordinate with community services.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and respond to urgent medical situations.

Required profile

• FRCPC (Emergency Medicine), CCFP‑EM, or ABEM certification.
• Eligibility for provisional licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) – CPSBC USA‑certified class acceptable.
• Commitment to serving a rural community and working in a team environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
