Drafting Technician – Industrial Design

About the role

The Drafting Technician will support the engineering team by creating accurate shop drawings and design documentation for our fabrication projects. You will work in an interior workshop environment, translating blueprints into detailed specifications and cost estimates.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare engineering designs, drawings, and shop drawings based on blueprints.
• Develop design sketches, construction specifications, material estimates and cost calculations.
• Draft contracts, tenders and technical reports, ensuring all documentation meets project requirements.
• Examine drawings for conformity, correct errors and compile complete documentation packages.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of drafting experience in fabrication or industrial design.
• College or CEGEP certificate (3 months to <1 year) or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and maintain high attention to detail.
• Clear oral and written communication skills and a collaborative team attitude.

Required skills

• Computer‑aided design (CAD) software, especially SolidWorks.
• Proficiency with MS Office, spreadsheet and word‑processing applications.
• Experience using desktop, file‑management, multimedia, programming and database software.
• Preparation of shop drawings and technical specifications.
