Geologist - Resource Definition

About the role

Evolution Mining is recruiting a Geologist Resource Definition for its Red Lake mine in Northwestern Ontario, a high-grade gold deposit with three underground mines and two processing plants. The role contributes to resource growth and reserve conversion through high-quality geological data collection and brownfields exploration, working in a collaborative geology team on drilling programs, core logging, sampling, data management and geological interpretation and modelling. It is a recruitment for an existing vacancy, on a 5/2/4/3 (9.5-hour day) roster, residentially based in Red Lake.

Key responsibilities

• Support geology and exploration functions with daily activities and data tasks.
• Help identify ways to improve the geological understanding of resource areas.
• Contribute to drill program execution, including core handling, drill hole logging, sampling and data entry.
• Support QA/QC to ensure high-quality geological, geochemical and assay data.
• Prepare geological interpretations and 3D models under the guidance of Senior Geologists.
• Keep supervisors informed on drilling progress, sample status and field activities.
• Follow safety procedures, identify hazards and promote a proactive safety culture.
• Take into account environmental, community and cultural heritage factors, and comply with site regulations and standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Science.
• 2-4 years of experience in geological fieldwork, mineral exploration or mining operations.
• Eligibility to register as a Professional Geoscientist (GIT) in Ontario is an asset.
• Beneficial: exposure to orogenic gold systems, experience with core logging, sampling or field mapping, and proven experience planning, leading and running exploration programmes.
• Good communicator and presenter with people and leadership skills.

Required skills

• Experience with Leapfrog and Deswik software.
• Familiarity with health, safety and environmental principles in the field.
