Director of Accounting

About the role

Our client, a technology organization based in Toronto, is seeking an experienced Interim Director of Accounting for a 12‑18 month contract. The role will lead core transaction accounting and reporting across a multi‑entity, multi‑revenue‑stream environment, reporting to senior finance leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, cash application, treasury support, tax and reporting.
• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting activities to ensure timely and accurate monthly financial results.
• Support monthly, quarterly and year‑end close, including reconciliations, reporting packages and consolidated financial statements.
• Manage consolidated reporting for the Canadian business and align with group reporting expectations.
• Apply IFRS expertise to complex revenue and technical accounting matters.
• Coach and develop a team of direct and indirect reports.
• Coordinate audit deliverables and act as primary contact for external auditors and tax advisors.
• Strengthen internal controls, documentation and overall accounting discipline.

Required profile

• CPA designation.
• Deep knowledge of IFRS with ability to interpret guidance in a complex environment.
• 7+ years progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership across multiple functions.
• Prior experience in a Director, Controller or comparable finance leadership role.
• Strong background in monthly close, financial reporting and audit support.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP Business One, Workday or Sage Intacct.
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities.
• Big 4 experience or training is an asset.
