Direct Support Worker

About the role

Support Workers deliver services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or acquired brain injury in community residential settings. The role focuses on promoting dignity, self‑determination, and personal outcomes while encouraging community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide residential or community support aligned with St.Amant’s mission, values, and provincial regulations.
• Monitor health needs, assist with daily living routines, and ensure safety and well‑being of supported individuals.
• Facilitate relationship building and community participation, sometimes acting as an “exploring pair.”
• Advocate for individuals and support their spiritual preferences as desired.

Required profile

• Grade XII Diploma or GED.
• Valid Manitoba driver’s licence and ability to obtain CPR and Emergency First Aid certification.
• Clear criminal record checks (Child/Adult Abuse Registry, Vulnerable Sector, Prior Contact).
• Positive, energetic, self‑directed attitude with experience supporting people with disabilities preferred.
• Physical ability and emotional stability to respond to challenging behaviours.

Required skills

• CPR certification
• Emergency First Aid certification
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office)
